SEO - The Best Links Come Naturally

May 19th, 2008

No one disputes the power of back links to improve you search engine ranking. In fact, there are tons of people making money by falsely inflating your back links. Ultimately, however, most of these methods fail to give you good links and if you push it too close to to the edge, Google may slap you right up the side of your head.

The best and most effective links are the natural ones that come from sites that come from quality sources and by nature of the site content are supportive and you are currently reading the best way to produce those links.

Yes, I am talking about article marketing. Everyone knows the value of article marketing. It makes you recognized as an expert in your niche and also produces trust between you and your readers. One of the real values that we sometime fail to recognize is the great links that it produces from blogs and websites that publish your article.

This is the epitome of a good natural link and when the search engines rank you site, you will find that your ranking grows exponentially with the number of quality articles that have published your work on their blog or site.

As an example, everyone knows that the search engines do not look kindly upon opt-in pages but, after just a couple of dozen published articles on one set of keywords, one squeeze page of mine went from impossible to find in the thousands of results to being within a couple of pages at the top of the list. That doesn’t sound like much but, when you realize that we are talking about a non-seo optimized squeeze page, you can begin to see how important article marketing is.

So, get to work. Write some good interesting articles and not only develop a reputation for expertise and trust but, produce those back links that the search engines love so dearly. One note of caution, be consistent and try to produce an article a day. From personal experience, if you don’t do this on a daily basis, you will see your site rankings drop just as fast as they rose. In this business, you are only remembered for what you did last and if you take a week off from article marketing, your search engine rankings will drop just as fast as they grew.

Hi,

Search.yahoo.com is a subdomain under yahoo similar to Yahoo.com/search Why search.yahoo.com

All search engines are based on relevancy, ( Golden Rule)

Compare the two statements and see which is more Relevant to Rotapix.
a) Rotapix is an seo company
b) Seo is done at Rotapix  My theory

1. The first statement A is more relevant to Rotapix hence its highly going to come on Rotapix search query.while second statement is more relevant to Seo.
2. Second theory is LSI, latent symantic Indexing There is what sometimes refered to Prominence (Seo 101) , where keyword comes first to indicate relevancy about a particular search.

However Seo is it more that just putting a keyword first in the domain. There are so many variables involved e.g site theme, Meta tags, content, even more powerful linking. Its Not just one thing its about getting a big picture.
3. Site theme
Subdomains can be a good way to break up your site into different related categories, which is similar to have a theme directory structure. eg yahoo.com/search
Seo is a creative craft, any ethical ways to show and prove relavancy to google, msn and yahoo will give good results

Automatic Blog Commenting

April 21st, 2008

We want everything to be done, now, done quickly and done nearly automatically!

It’s a fact!

Many people on the internet are used to automating any and every task. Many people have mainly used automated programs for search engine submission, now the latest thing is automatic blog comments.

What people are trying to achieve is two fold:
a.) Build up backlinks (search engines like this)
b.) Advertise their site/product on someone elses blog.

First let’s see what is positive about automatic blog commenting:
1.) Its is automated.
2.) Less Time Consuming
3.) Normally it costs nothing
4.) Gives numerous backlinks
5.) Helps in website promotion
6.) Its makes a website popular with search engines
7.) Less effort required

So in a nut shell it is pretty good right?

All of the above are true, and may be useful but what’s easy is not always best! Although you may believe you’ll get a good ranking you need to understand its limitations.

You know one of the things that is so important online? Credibility. People will find out about you very quickly online, and if you’re posting on everyone’s blog this may actually affect your credibility.

When I talk about credibility here, I mean your image and your websites image. As business person online, don’t look as if your desperate in earning money. Don’t look like a newbie. Don’t do things that may bring negative feedback to you. In relation to Automatic Blog Commenting, it really can ruin a business persons personality and image.

Automatic blog commenting does not show professionalism. To be frank, it really can annoy people reading the comments. Imagine reading the comments where it is obvious that you are promoting something. 100% certain it will not be effective.

Although you might drive some new visitors to your site, chances are they won’t be in the right frame of mind to buy from you - they may just be curious to see how you are!

Buying Links - How to Make Sure That The Links You Buy Are Worth It

April 21st, 2008

Before you start looking at links to buy you need to know that not all links for sale are worth it. There are many things that you need to look at before you buy those links. After all, you have to make sure that the link is going to fit your needs, otherwise, it’s not going to do any good. Now first of all, before we talk about buying links there are a few things that you need to know.

Why buying links? Well, because the more links you have to your web site out there, the higher your ranking is going to be in the search engines results. This is because these links on other sites work like votes for your site. So if site ‘A’ has a link for site ‘B’, then site ‘A’ is voting for site ‘B’.

Now that you know about the utility of link building, you need to know if it’s worth paying for them. The answer is yes, however you must know what you are doing. First of all, you have to know where your link is going to be placed on the site that is selling the link to you.

It has to be in an area that people are going to be able to see it, otherwise, it’s no good. Not only that, you have to make sure that it’s going to be placed on a site that is related in information to your site. Pretty much what that means is that if you have a site about cars, and you buy a link to a site about flowers, then that is not going to help your ranking. However, not only that, but it’s not going to get you any leads. Links on relevant web sites are more powerful and should be the primary focus of your link building efforts. While performing your link buying effort, focus your time on searching for website that you know are relevant to your niche.

Next, you have to know if the site that you are buying from is a quality content website. You need to know if a lot of people come to that site or not. Make sure your link is not displayed on wasted website like link farms or affiliates websites with no Google page rank. Most of these websites are created through automated programs and are spamming the search engines.

Make proper use of the anchor text in your link. The anchor text also known as link text, is the text who appears in the link pointing to your site. Be sure to use your primary keywords in the link (without abusing). Optimizing the anchor text of your links can have a huge effect on your search engine rank.

Last, You also need to make sure that they leave the link to your site up all the time. If they do not then you are going to end up losing money on the deal. After all, if you pay for the spot, you should get to use it the whole time.

How to Get Inbound Links from Government and University Sites

April 21st, 2008

The inbound link is the holy grail of web traffic. Getting inbound links from government and university sites is a testament to the quality of your site.

You accumulate inbound links not only to increase traffic, but also to establish your site for providing high value to visitors. However, getting inbound links by link exchange or buying text links is not going to get you anywhere. You need to abandon those archaic ideas and jump forward with an inbound link strategy that provides high value authoritative links.

To obtain high value authoritative links, your site must provide high values to its visitors. Original authoritative articles and tools to solve everyday problems are a few ways to provide a lasting value to web surfers. Before you embark on your link-building mission, create something valuable.

Links from the government sites have very high value. If your site enables citizenry to interact directly with the government, it is an excellent candidate for a link back from the government site.

Sites that provide community level services, for example location of Social Security Offices in the USA with interactive maps, will also have high potential for outbound links from government sites.

Other types of sites that do well are sites that provide information about service performance, for example, a nursing home comparison site; sites that cross inter-governmental boundaries; and sites that allow transactions with the government, for example, filing taxes.

If your site is a good fit for outbound links from government sites, start with usa.gov site. It is a central information hub for everything government. On the bottom of the page, you will see About Us and Contact Us links. Read their linking policy by clicking on the About Us before you contact them.

You don’t have to confine yourself to the US government sites only. Explore the possibilities of getting links from foreign government sites also. But keep in mind that your site should provide some values to citizenry of those countries and people wanting to do with them.

For example, most government embassy sites don’t display their embassy addresses in interactive maps. If your site pulls their addresses displayed in simple texts in a web page and place those addresses on Google maps for interactivity, you can contact them to put a link back to your site. Explain to them that your site adds additional value to their visitors by providing richer user experience.

College and university sites provide a good opportunity to develop some authoritative inbound links. The key here is to provide services geared towards students. You may also be able to get links if a faculty member is interested in your contents.

Don’t start spamming university forums, guest books, etc. People may attack your site and bring it down, report to your web host company or domain registrar. You will lose your credibility and reputation. Try to establish relationship by helping others. Let them know that you know your topics and are willing to share with them.

If your site provides some valuable services to students, approach the appropriate university authority for linking. For example, if you have a tool that compares student loans from different sources and suggests the good ones depending on a student’s financial situation, university loan office will be willing to link to your site as a resource.

If you have a blog with original and regularly updated contents that talk about impact of the technology on the society, you may approach a faculty in sociology to link to your site from his or her home page located in the university server.

Government and university sites provide good opportunities for developing inbound links if your website has a match with their requirements. The key to that is quality contents and useful web tools. Once you meet their requirements, it is worth pursuing these entities for spreading your website links to them.

How to Build a List the Right Way

April 21st, 2008

Always remember, the ultimate goal of having a list, is to acquire paying customers. Many new Internet Marketers forget this, and focus their attention on getting bigger lists, all the time thinking that when they have huge lists, they’ll make all the money they want.

So in order to build that huge list, they throw all kinds of traffic at their website. From my own experiences, people will subscribe to the list even though they have no interest in whatever you have to say. That’s a little counter-intuitive but time and time again, my results have proven that most people don’t even bother to read what’s on the webpage. For some strange reason, even though they have no interest at all in what the website has to sell, they still subscribe.

The new Internet Marketer ends up with a huge list. But when he tries to sell something to the list, he quickly discovers that they’re not buying anything. So what’s the point of having a huge list?

There’s no point. Unless the new Internet Marketer wise-up and starts to drive targeted traffic to his website. Targeted traffic means we already know that the website visitor has some interest in what the website is selling.

For instance, if you’re selling a golf swing ebook, you wouldn’t want to advertise in a home business ezine would you? You would want to advertise only in ezines that publish golf related information.

So targeting is very important. In fact, the more targeted the traffic, the better the opt-in rates and the higher the conversion rate (i.e. more sales).

Always have an awareness of the intention of the visitors that are coming from any particular traffic source. For example, if the visitor is coming from a social network, would he be interested in whatever you are selling? What is the social network about? Is it a network for musicians? Are you selling a music course? What are the chances that this visitor will turn into a paying customer?

In doing so, you qualify the lead in advance, hence greatly enhancing the quality of your list. That’s building a list the right way.

Building Rapport With Your Subscribers

April 21st, 2008

One frustration that all internet marketers have is building a list. Some marketers will pay to buy a list, others will join free giveaways to try and build a list. The number one mistake a lot of marketers make is they build a big list, and the straight away they begin to email “offers” and “deals” to the list.

Now look at it from the point of view of the person on the list. They don’t know who this person is but suddenly they get emails from them asking to buy this product or that product - that would turn anyone off!

Building rapport should be their first goal to win the subscriber. Believe me, it doesn’t mean that every subscriber is a customer. However if the subscriber gets to know you first, they will build up trust with you and then perhaps buy from you.

Your list can be a licence to print money - if you tend to it well. Like a flower you need to look after it. One of the best ways to build relationships with your subscriber is to strengthen the rapport between you and your customer.

Here are a few ways to achieve that:

• Keep in touch with your mailing list often.

It is good to email them often but of course be careful on what you send them. Be a friend to them. Send them tips and strategies that would help them succeed, make sure it’s free. Then 1 at a time, you can send them offers that will help them and also help you earn

Don’t mail them only when you need to promote a product.

Regular contact is key as you begin to “train” them to expect your emails.

• Ask about their needs and concerns.

Every subscriber has certain needs. You might as well ask them what information they want to receive from you. There is nothing wrong with asking, it is better than making a wrong decision in sending emails.

• Send them gifts sometimes.

Like you, your subscriber also wants to get freebies like ebook, audios, videos, graphics or anything that would be useful for them. Again you can ask them as to what products and information that they may want to receive for free.

• Be personal.

Do not send a corporate email. They subscribe to communicate with you personally so do not be too business like when sending emails. As a tip, you can use first person whenever you end the email so that they may read it as a personal message. Remember all good autoresponder services allow you to personalize the email with their first name

• Be educational.

As list owner, your subscriber assumes that you are an expert in your field. They view you as someone knowledgeable and like a teacher. Be credible in every word and phrases you say. Make sure those words you send them have value.

Do not send emails just because you are scheduled to send emails. Spend time in creating your emails don’t simply rush off an email without thinking about it.

It only takes one silly email to ruin your reputation with your list

When you impart something of value to your subscribers, they will see you as a teacher and listen to what you say. This will come in handy when you want them to ‘listen’ to you and buy whatever you are selling.

Affiliate Marketing - Make Money With PPC

April 21st, 2008

There are tons of ways to use internet marketing to make money online. One of the best and most reliable ways is PPC marketing. PPC (par per click) marketing is a powerful tool in the hands of an affiliate marketer. You can get a constant stream of visitors to your site and increase ROI (return on investment) by more than 300%!

The biggest PPC marketing showcase is Google. You may have noticed a column of ads on the right hand side of your search page. Those are PPC ads. People sign up for Google adwords, create those ads and they are shown on Google under specific keywords. The adword user must pay Google every time someone clicks on their ad. The cost per click varies and depends on the keywords competition. A low competition keyword may cost you a few pennies per click. A more competitive keyword, on the other hand, may cost you 30 cents to a dollar per click.

The most popular way to make money with PPC is with affiliate marketing. PPC allows you to send people strait to a sales page. If that person buys the product, you get your commission. Unfortunately it is a little more complicated than that. You have to be aware of you cost to make sure you do not spend more money on clicks than you get in commissions. A lot of people never use PPC because they are afraid of losing money. The truth is, if you manage your account correctly you can make a lot of money using PPC.

If you are advertising something that will make you $25 a sale, then you need to find out the conversion rate of the site. Most sites will gladly give you this information if you email them. Let’s say the site converts 2% of the people that visit it. So it is safe to assume that one out of every 50 people will make a purchase. You should not pay any more than 50 cents per click. 50 cents will get exactly 50 people there with $25. As long as you do not pay too much for your ads, you will not lose much money. By sticking to those guidelines you greatly reduce any risk of losing money.

The best thing about PPC is that when you get a successful ad running, you can set it on autopilot and it will continue to make money for you. If you get several successful ads running on autopilot you will really see a substantial amount of money come in. This is called continual income and it is great because you make money all day and night, even while you sleep!

Anyone can make money with PPC. All it takes is knowledge, research, and the will to succeed. If you want to increase your affiliate checks and make more money, PPC is for you.

Digg, Social News and Social Authority Building

April 21st, 2008

What is Digg?

Digg is a news-oriented, or “social news” website, where the majority of its content is submitted by its users. Digg’s users also rate the site’s content, determining what’s important enough to go on the front page, and what should be removed. After signing up for a free account, Digg’s users can submit, review, vote on, and comment on news stories and other content they find on the Internet.

The idea is that instead of searching the web for useful content, people can just make one stop at Digg and see the latest current events, feature stories, videos, podcasts, and other content ‘ selected and rated by users instead of by an editor.

Digg is an important tool in building your online presence.

If a link to your content is submitted to Digg and receives a lot of positive votes and comments, your website can receive hundreds or even thousands of visitors within a short period of time. There is a great deal of the traffic that will probably quickly read the article or post and leave but, there’s a good chance that the more targeted visitors will browse your site and sign up for your newsletter and/or RSS feed which will also help you to receive incoming links, trackbacks, and social bookmarks.

You may receive comments, earn extra income, have your rss feeds picked up, and many other possibilities may come from having your content submitted. How does Digg work? In order to make your comment live, Digg requires you to enter your name and email address, and then use a password and confirmation link they email you.

How do links get on Digg’s front Page?

All new content starts out on Digg’s Upcoming Page. Digg’s ranking system for each piece of content submitted is based on an algorithm (yes there is an actual algorithm to compute a story’s importance and popularity on Digg!) that considers things like the category the link was submitted to, how many diggs and buries the link has received, how quickly they’ve occurred, how valid they are, and the identity and IP addresses of the people voting on the link.

When a link receives enough diggs, it gets moved to the home page of its category. If it then makes the “Top 10″ articles for its category, it receives a lot more exposure. However, if the link doesn’t receive enough diggs within 12 to 24 hours, it’s removed from the Upcoming Page to make room for new content.

There is another way to make your submissions more visible, and that is by you genuinely participating in the Digg community (submitting, digging and commenting on other people’s content), the more your profile and content will be noticed by other Digg members. That increases the number of people interested in submitting, digging, and commenting on your content. We call this “Social Authority” building.

What Kind of Content is Successful on Digg?

Digg moves content in and out quickly, with thousands of other story links competing for attention and votes, so although content that is considered “linkbait” on a blog may be successful, it may or may not be as successful on Digg.

That means your Digg content has to grab people’s attention fast. You may need to change the angle of your content slightly, or give it a catchier headline and description to make people stop and look at it as they scan quickly down the Digg content links.
